Cooking Features

Even an inexperienced cook will be able to cook the “Five Minutes”. To get the best result, he needs to know a few things.

  • Jamies of the “Five Minute” category are distinguished by a common cooking feature: berries and fruits, when cooked, are subjected to minimal heat treatment. Typically, the time of their one-time boiling does not exceed 5 minutes, although the procedure can be repeated two or even three times. Considering the short cooking time, it is impossible to cook the “Five minutes” from whole peaches. To do this, the fruit must be cleaned of skin and stone, cut into slices or cubes.
  • Peeling peaches will be easy if you immerse them in boiling water for a few minutes, then immediately transfer them into a container of cold water.
  • To keep the peaches from darkening, after peeling, they are immersed in water acidified with lemongrass. Per liter of water take 10 g of citric acid. It does not affect the taste of jam, as peaches are among the sweet fruits.
  • If the bone “has grown” into the pulp, you can use a spoon to remove it.
  • When cooking the five-minute peach jam without water, fruit slices are first evenly sprinkled with sugar and left for a few hours to let the juice run. Sugar is dissolved in peach juice, turning it into syrup. Only then can a container of fruit be placed on the stove without fear that they will burn.
  • Jam “Five minutes” is laid out in hot cans, so they need to be prepared in advance. Preparation includes washing with soda and sterilization. Suitable lids are required for boiling. They must be metal, ensuring tightness.
