Beef Fajitos

Fahitos with beef is somewhat reminiscent of shawarma familiar to most of us, but in reality this similarity is imaginary. Mexican fajitos are also prepared from roasted meat and vegetables, which, together with the sauce, are wrapped in a flat cake, but its composition, technology of preparation and serving differ significantly. The main ingredients of fajitos are meat, sweet and chilean peppers, onions. Additionally, maize and beans are often added to the filling. When serving fajitos poured over tequila and set on fire, putting it on the table right in the pan. Mexican tortillas, called tortillas, and sauces are served separately. It is necessary to put a few sauces on the table, since the meaning of the separate supply of ingredients is to give everyone the opportunity to collect fajitos to their taste, mixing the filling with their favorite sauce. Original presentation and excellent taste turn fajitos into an unusual dish that can even be offered to guests. The simplicity of the preparation allows you to do it for a family dinner.

Cooking Features

Fajitos can easily be prepared by a person who does not possess exceptional culinary skills and does not even have significant experience in creating any dishes. It is only important to understand the principles of making fajitos, find the right recipe and follow all the recommendations contained therein.

  • Beef for fajitos is pre-marinated, and then roasted on the grill. If it is not marinated, it will turn out to be harsh and dry. For this reason, it is necessary to start preparing the ingredients at least 2 hours before lunchtime, it is even better to marinate the meat overnight.
  • Products for fajitos are cut in a special way, namely, rather large straws, in the case of meat or sweet pepper. Onions should be cut into half rings with a thickness of 2-3 mm. Other products are ground according to directions in a particular recipe.
  • If you could not get Mexican tortillas, you can make them yourself. To do this, sift half a kilo of flour, mix it with a tablespoon of salt and a teaspoon of baking powder, pour in 100 ml of oil, stir and, adding hot water, knead the dough. After the dough “has a rest”, it is divided into pieces the size of a chicken egg, balls are made of them and rolled into cakes with a diameter of not more than 20 cm. These cakes are fried for a minute on each side in a dry pan. If you use ready-made tortillas, they must be heated before serving.
  • As a sauce for fajitos, salsa, sweet-sour sauce based on avocado, sour cream or yogurt mixed with greens are most often served, in which you can also add a little garlic. In the absence of suitable sauces, they can be replaced with any other spicy ketchup and sour-sweet sauce.
  • In addition to beef fajitos, grated cheese can be served. Especially good spicy cheddar.

The technology for making fajitos may vary slightly depending on the selected recipe.

Traditional beef fajitos


  • beef - 0.5 kg;
  • Bulgarian pepper of green color - 0, 25 kg;
  • red bell pepper - 0, 25 kg;
  • onions - 100 g;
  • tomato juice - 150 ml;
  • hot peppers - 0, 5 pcs .;
  • mustard - 5 ml;
  • vegetable oil - as required;
  • salt - to taste;
  • tortillas - as needed.

Method of preparation:

  • Pepper pepper seeds are cleaned and chopped in a blender. If desired, you can simply cut it with a knife, but very finely.
  • Mix tomato juice with mustard and hot pepper.
  • Wash the meat, cut it into thin, but long strips and immerse it in tomato juice. Stir and put in the refrigerator for several hours.
  • Peel the onion and cut it into half rings, not too thin.
  • Wash the peppers. Cut off their stalks. Cut the fruit in half, remove the seeds from them. Cut the flesh of the peppers into thin strips.
  • Heat the pan by brushing it with a small amount of oil. Put the vegetables on it and fry them for 8 minutes, stirring constantly so that they do not burn.
  • Remove the vegetables from the pan, put the meat in their place and fry it until golden brown.
  • Add vegetables to the meat and the sauce, in which the meat was marinated. Fry everything together for 2-3 minutes.

Before serving, you can pour tequila on the dish and set it on fire. Serve tortillas and sauces separately. Additionally, you can apply coarsely chopped greens, chopped grated cheese.

Fajitos with beef, avocado and beans


  • beef - 0.5 kg;
  • Bulgarian pepper of different colors - 0.5 kg;
  • onions - 100 g;
  • celery stalk - 100 g;
  • red beans, boiled until cooked or canned, - 0, 4 kg;
  • avocado - 2 pcs .;
  • vegetable oil - as required;
  • wine vinegar (3 percent) - 20 ml;
  • fresh coriander - 20 g;
  • garlic - 2 cloves;
  • lime - 1 pc .;
  • salt, pepper - to taste;
  • tortillas - as needed;
  • salsa, sour cream - on demand.

Method of preparation:

  • Wash, dry and cut the beef into thick strips.
  • Squeeze juice from lime. Mix it with finely chopped cilantro with a knife, passed through a press garlic. Pour half the marinade for avocado.
  • Without touching the peeled marinade, add wine vinegar and a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the rest, add pepper. Stir.
  • Marinate the beef in the mixture for at least 2 hours.
  • Wash and peel avocados. Cut into large slices or cubes. Marinate in the remaining lime juice mixed with garlic and cilantro. Salt lightly.
  • Wash and finely chop celery, mix with beans, season with salsa.
  • Fry marinated beef in a grill pan until ready.
  • Peel and chop the pepper into large strips. Fry it in a pan in a little oil. Mix with meat.

Serve the fajitos by putting it on the dish. Separately, serve the bean salad and marinated avocado, tortillas and several types of sauce. This dish looks festive and suitable for treating friends.

Fajitos with beef, chicken and corn


  • beef - 0.5 kg;
  • chicken breast fillet - 0, 4 kg;
  • sweet pepper - 0, 3 kg;
  • onions - 0, 2 kg;
  • garlic - 5 cloves;
  • lemon juice - 100 ml;
  • coriander seeds, cumin - to taste;
  • olive oil - 100 ml;
  • soy sauce - 50 ml;
  • canned corn (in grains) - 0, 2 kg;
  • tortillas, sauces - as required.

Method of preparation:

  • Wash beef tenderloin and chicken breast fillets. Cut them into strips of approximately the same size, mix.
  • Pass garlic through a press.
  • Ceiling coriander seeds and cumin in a mortar.
  • Mix garlic and ground spices with soy sauce, lemon juice and vegetable oil. Marinate the meat in this mixture. Leave it for a couple of hours.
  • Peel the onions, cut into half rings of medium thickness.
  • Pepper, cleared of seeds, cut into strips.
  • Heat the pan. Put the meat on it, as you should fry.
  • In the same pan, fry the vegetables, then return the meat to it and mix the ingredients.
  • Add canned corn, pour in marinade and stew for 2-3 minutes.

Serve fajitos in a frying pan or dish. Cooked according to this recipe, it turns out to be particularly satisfying, because it contains a lot of meat.

Beef fajitos is a hearty and tasty dish worthy of a festive table. However, it is prepared so simply that they can even feed their families every day.
