Cranberry jam will be tastier and healthier if you take into account some important points when preparing it.

  • When harvesting cranberries, you must pick the berries carefully, without squeezing them with your fingers, so as not to damage them.
  • After harvesting the cranberries, it should be cleaned of debris, sticky leaves, and washed with running water, trying to keep the water jet not too strong, otherwise the integrity of the berries will be disturbed during the washing process.
  • It is necessary to dry the washed cranberries before proceeding directly to the preparation of the jam, spilling out on paper towels that will quickly absorb excess moisture.
  • The main value of cranberries is a high content of vitamin C, which can be destroyed during heat treatment. For this reason, cranberry jam is cooked for a relatively short time. To store such a workpiece can only be in a cool place, ideally - in the refrigerator. Therefore, lay out the cranberry jam is better for small banks.
  • Despite the fact that cranberry jam is stored at a low temperature, banks for it must be sterilized. The lids with which these cans will be closed should also be sterilized. A five minute boil will be enough for this.
  • Cranberries - berries are very sour, so you need to take a lot of sugar for making jam.

A simple recipe for cranberry jam

The composition (1, 5 l):

  • cranberries - 1 kg;
  • sugar - 1 kg.

Method of preparation:

  • Pick, rinse and dry the cranberries, chop them with a blender, meat grinder, or food processor.
  • Mix cranberry puree with sugar, cover the container with a cloth and leave at room temperature for a couple of hours.
  • Place a bowl of berry puree on a low heat and bring to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes, removing the froth (you should not throw it away: it is very tasty, and you can eat it with tea after making jam to reward yourself for your work).
  • Pour the hot jam over the prepared jars, close them with nylon or metal lids, put them in the fridge after they become barely warm.

This is the easiest recipe for cooking cranberry jam, in which only two ingredients - cranberry and sugar.

Five-Minut Cranberry Jam

Composition (for 2, 5 l):

  • cranberries - 1 kg;
  • sugar - 1, 5 kg;
  • water - 0, 5 l.

Method of preparation:

  • Pour the washed cranberries into a basin and pour half a liter of water. Bring to a boil and cook on a quiet fire for 5 minutes. Cool, pour the broth into a separate pan.
  • Boil the broth, add sugar and make a thick syrup.
  • Pour hot syrup over the cranberries and let it soak for 2 hours.
  • Put a bowl of cranberries on fire. After the jam boils, mark for 5 minutes - just as much jam should be cooked for this recipe. During the cooking process, mix the contents of the pelvis and remove the foam that forms on the surface.
  • Pour hot jam over sterilized jars, roll them up. Wait for the banks to cool down, then move them to the shelf of the refrigerator.

Cooking five-minute cranberry jam is no more difficult than making jam using a simple recipe. In the jam prepared according to this recipe, the cranberries remain whole, which makes it very appetizing.

Fragrant cranberry jam

Composition (for 2, 5 l):

  • cranberries - 1 kg;
  • sugar - 2 kg;
  • water - 0, 25 l;
  • lemon peel - 10-15 g;
  • vanillin - 1-2 g.

Method of preparation:

  • Pour the prepared cranberries with a glass of water and place the basin with it on the fire.
  • When the water boils, start adding sugar, each time mixing everything well and waiting for the crystals to dissolve.
  • Add zest and vanillin, boil, removing the foam, 20 minutes, remove from heat.
  • Let the jam stand for about half an hour, then spread it over the sterilized jars. Close the jars tightly and store in a cool place.

Cooked according to this simple recipe, cranberry jam is sweet and aromatic.

Cranberry jam with oranges in a slow cooker

Composition (2 liters):

  • cranberries - 1 kg;
  • sugar - 1, 25 kg;
  • oranges - 0, 5 kg.

Method of preparation:

  • Wash berries and oranges.
  • Turn berries into mashed potatoes with a blender or meat grinder.
  • Cut the oranges, without peeling, into large pieces and remove the bones from them, skip the rest through a meat grinder and mix with cranberry puree.
  • Put the mashed potatoes in the multicooker bowl, add sugar and leave for half an hour.
  • Stir, close the lid and turn on steaming for 15 minutes. If there is no such mode, then you can use the “Quenching” program by running it for 20 minutes.
  • Spread the jam over the prepared jars, roll them up with metal lids. Turn the cans over and wrap up with a blanket. When they cool down, put them in the refrigerator or in the closet for the winter - the jam prepared according to this recipe is well worth it at room temperature.

Making jam in accordance with the indicated recipe will not take a lot of time from the hostess. In this delicacy will be very fragrant. On a consistence it will remind not too dense jam.

Cranberry Jam with Apples and Nuts

Composition (for 2, 5 l):

  • cranberries - 0.5 kg;
  • apples - 0.5 kg;
  • honey - 1 tbsp .;
  • walnut kernels - 100 g.

Method of preparation:

  • Sort through, wash the cranberries. Place in a basin, filled with a glass of water, and boil for 5 minutes.
  • Drain excess water, rub the berries through a sieve.
  • Wash the apples, cut the core out of them, cut the flesh into small cubes.
  • Chop the walnuts with a knife.
  • Put honey in the cooking jar and heat it on low heat until it becomes liquid.
  • Put apple slices into honey, boil for 5 minutes.
  • Add the cranberries and boil the same.
  • Put the nuts and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Spread the ready-made jam over the jars, close them and cool them in the fridge after cooling.

This recipe makes an exquisite and very healthy dessert. If you eat it a little every day, then anemia and vitamin deficiency do not threaten you.

It should be borne in mind that sugar can be replaced with honey in the preparation of cranberry jam according to any of the above recipes. In this case, honey is taken in the amount of one glass instead of every 250 grams of granulated sugar.
