Most fruits and berries are suitable for making compotes, but some of them need to add acid, essence, a lot of sugar, and some are tasty without any additives. Plums are among the latter - they are sweet, and with a slightly sour, and fragrant. Blue plums, if used with the peel, give compote also a rich ruby ​​color. The compote of yellow plums, unfortunately, is almost colorless, but no less tasty. It will perfectly refresh on a hot day or harmoniously complement any menu.

Ingredients:

  • water - 2 l;
  • plums - 1 kg;
  • granulated sugar - 350 g.

How to cook plum compote

1. First of all, you need to prepare all the ingredients. Plums must be carefully and well washed, as they will be involved in the cooking process with the skin.

2. Choose a pot of the required volume, place the washed berries there and fill them with sugar. If to use the whole plums, then compote will turn out transparent and without pulp. You can also clear them of bones, but then the finished drink will be more turbid and with pieces of plums.

3. Pour water into the pan in the specified volume and place it on the fire. After boiling, reduce the temperature and cook for another 6-7 minutes.

4. The finished compote can be left to cool in a saucepan, or it can be poured into another container.

5. At will, you can remove the plums from the drink, because not everyone likes compote with floating fruit. But it is better to leave the berries, because the drink will get a richer taste.

6. When the plum compote is completely cool, you should put it in the fridge. The drink is much tastier chilled, and therefore you can throw a few pieces of ice into a glass. This drink everyone will like, especially in hot weather.
