  • Nearly all hoisin sauce recipes include the Five Spice complex Chinese seasoning. It can be obtained, but it is not sold everywhere. If you could not get a jar of ready-made spices, you can prepare the seasoning yourself. It will require a cinnamon stick about 4 cm long, 2 stars of anise, cloves in the amount of 10 pieces, a tablespoon of fennel seeds and the same amount of Szechuan pepper. The last component can be replaced with the same amount of ginger powder. All spices are fried in a dry skillet, then ground into powder and mixed.
  • Often in the seasoning include chili pepper, garlic. It is better to work with these ingredients in gloves so as not to damage the skin.
  • Often in the composition of the sauce include honey. This component is pre-melted to a liquid state. If you want to keep its useful properties, do it better on the steam bath.

Hoisin sauce based on beans and honey


  • canned red beans in their own juice - 60 g;
  • juice from under canned beans - 20 ml;
  • soy sauce - 60 ml;
  • garlic - 2 cloves;
  • seasoning “Five Spices” - 2 slivers;
  • wine vinegar (6%) - 40 ml;
  • honey - 20 ml;
  • chili pepper - 10 g;
  • sesame oil - 20 ml.

Method of preparation:

  • Peel and chop the garlic.
  • Cut pepper in half lengthwise, remove seeds and membranes. Cut half the pod into small pieces.
  • Put the pepper and garlic in the blender bowl, add the beans to them.
  • Turn the machine on and chop the ingredients to a puree state.
  • Melt the honey, pour it into the slurry.
  • Add soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil. If necessary, it can be replaced with any other vegetable oil.
  • Add seasoning, pour a spoonful of juice from a jar of beans.
  • Beat the contents of the blender bowl until a homogeneous composition is obtained.

If the sauce seems too thick to you, you can add another spoonful of bean juice, beat the sauce again.

Bean and sugar hoisin sauce


  • canned red beans - 100 g;
  • treacle - 5 ml;
  • brown sugar - 5 g;
  • wine vinegar (6%) - 40 ml;
  • vegetable oil - 5 ml;
  • seasoning “Five spices” - 5 g;
  • garlic - 1 clove;
  • soy sauce - 40 ml.

Method of preparation:

  • Season the spices in a frying pan, heat slightly to make their flavor better open.
  • Dissolve them with soy sauce and pour the mixture into the blender bowl.
  • Put in it molasses and sugar. If necessary, you can replace the molasses with honey.
  • Add the oil, vinegar and garlic passed through the press.
  • Whisk.
  • Add the beans, pre-stretching it with a fork. Stir the ingredients with a blender.

Sauce made according to this recipe has a thick texture. It is convenient to serve meat dishes, pouring into a sauceboat.

Hoisin Peanut Paste Sauce Recipe


  • peanut paste - 80 g;
  • honey - 40 ml;
  • soy sauce - 160 ml;
  • white wine vinegar (6%) - 20 ml;
  • garlic powder - pinch;
  • chili sauce - 40 ml;
  • seasoning “Five Spices” - a pinch;
  • sesame oil - 20 ml.

Method of preparation:

  • Put peanut butter in the bowl of the blender.
  • Drain her with melted honey.
  • Add chili sauce.
  • Pour in vinegar and soy sauce, sesame oil.

In hoisin sauce prepared according to this recipe, you can marinate pork, poultry meat. Submitting it separately to Peking duck or other Chinese dishes is also a good idea.

  • soy sauce - 160 ml;
  • orange juice - 40 ml;
  • garlic powder - pinch;
  • honey - 40 ml;
  • wine vinegar (6%) - 20 ml;
  • seasoning “Five Spices” - a pinch;
  • chili sauce - 5 ml.

Method of preparation:

  • Melt the honey to a liquid state.
  • Combine all the ingredients that make up the sauce.
  • Whisk.

This variant of seasoning differs from the traditional hoisin sauce with orange notes, a liquid consistency and a less savory taste. If you do not belong to lovers of spicy dishes, preference should be given to this option.
