In winter, you want to pamper yourself with fresh greens, fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, it is not always possible, because something, such as sorrel, cannot be found on the shelves of supermarkets when it is snowing on the street. What to do? Stock up on vitamins in the fall. You can preserve sorrel, but there is a simpler version - freezing. Today we will tell you how to freeze sorrel for the winter so that you can enjoy a delicious sorrel soup in a frosty evening and remember the summer.
All you need to freeze sorrel is sorrel and several plastic bags.
How to freeze sorrel
1. Sorrel leaves are thoroughly washed. Drain. Remove the sticks.
2. Cut the leaves into strips.
3. Fold the chopped sorrel over plastic bags (you can use special packages for freezing). We advise you to put as much sorrel in each package as you need for single cooking.
4. We release air from the package. Well tied up. Sent to the freezer.
Green borscht made from frozen sorrel doesn’t taste much like the one we used to enjoy in summer. The only difference is that the soup is not so sour.
