Margarita Cocktail

Often ice is added to it. This exquisite mix is listed in the cocktail list of the International Bartenders Association, where it can be found in the “Modern Classic” section. Who came up with the first mix of tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice, is not known for sure, but most often the story of the creation of the drink is associated with the name of Margarita Seyms. It is believed that she combined the above components in one glass and treated this mixture to friends at a reception in Acapulco in 1948. You can repeat the experiment at home, focusing on the existing and time-tested recipes "Margarita".

Cooking Features

There are several recipes for Margarita cocktail, even the ratio of ingredients in its classic version does not diminish controversy. The international bartenders' association believes that half of the drink should be tequila, 29% - “Cointreau” liqueur, 21% - lime juice. Conventionally, this proportion can be represented as 7: 4: 3. In Mexico, the popular ratio is 2: 1: 2, which is considered historical. Manufacturers of Cointreau liqueur recommend tequila to take one part of orange alcoholic drink and juice into 2 parts. With all the difference in recipes, the general rules for preparing and serving Margarita cocktail remain unchanged.

  • The quality of the drinks used to make a cocktail depends on its taste. Replacing the original ingredients (tequila, “Cointreau” and others) with cheap counterparts (vodka, homemade orange tincture) will negatively affect the taste of the finished drink.
  • Ingredients for “Margarita” are mixed in a shaker, most often with the addition of ice. After mixing the cocktail is filtered directly into a glass or into a separate container, poured into a glass after. For filtration, a sieve and a strainer are usually used at the same time to completely eliminate ice and fruit pulp from entering the glass.
  • Served “Margarita” in cocktail glasses, after having decorated them with a rim of salt. Additionally, they are decorated with slices of lime or other fruits and berries that make up the cocktail. Some non-classical versions of the drink are served in other containers, for example, in glasses such as roksov.
  • Some variants of “Margarita” are drunk through a straw, but the classic cocktail is served without a straw. Drink it in small sips, for a long time stretching pleasure.

“Margarita” cocktail is considered a drink of the whole day, you can drink it at any time of the day without reference to food intake. Snack to it is usually not served.
